Frequently Asked Questions
As a physician, why should I consider telemedicine? Isn’t this really a passing fad that will disappear with COVID?
No, the genie is out of the bottle and putting it back in will be very difficult. The benefits stemming from telemedicine have become very apparent with COVID. Patients, doctors and health system payers are all seeing first-hand how telemedicine is able to deliver high-quality, convenient health care services in an affordable manner. Telemedicine provides superior chronic disease management capabilities, faster prescription renewals, while enabling better access to specialty care.
Is there a minimum number of hours/week I need to commit?
We would like to see doctors using MedOnline commit to providing appointments for a minimum of 4 hours on the days they indicate availability, with a minimum availability of 8 hours per week.
There are plenty of established telemedicine platforms in the market today. Why should I choose MedOnline?
The MedOnline solution is based on secure, high-quality technology so it’s superior to many existing platforms which were built many years ago, often without taking into account today’s smart phones..
The biggest difference you’ll see in using MedOnline is the amount of money you’ll save by using the platform. Unlike the other telemedicine platforms that charge upwards of 30% of your billings, MedOnline will cost you nothing, unless you opt to use some of the advanced functionality/services.
What’s the catch? Nothing in life is free.
MedOnline is unique in that it covers the costs for providing a high-quality telemedicine platform by featuring advertising on its app and admin platform. There are a myriad of advertisers – and we’re not talking about pharma companies – that would take advantage of an opportunity to promote their services/products via the MedOnline platform. Examples of advertisers include medical device manufacturers, companies promoting healthy eating/nutrition, wellness companies, allied health care professionals, and fitness and lifestyle companies.
Does the MedOnline solution integrate with my EMR?
At this time, MedOnline isn’t integrated with any EMR solution – however, our system provides SOAP notes which could easily be copied into your EMR.
What equipment do I need to use MedOnline?
A computer (laptop or desktop) with a camera (internal or external). You can use a range of web browsers such as Chrome, Explorer or Firefox. You should be connected to a Wifi – with network speeds in excess of 15 Mbps.
A mobile phone or tablet with the camera enabled and the MedOnline doctor app downloaded. We recommend using a stand for your device during visits to keep the camera stable. Please ensure the lighting in the office is very good as well.
What is the typical appointment length?
Most visits last between 7 and 10 minutes.
Where can I take a virtual appointment?
You can conduct an appointment from any private location. Keep in mind that you cannot take an appointment with anyone else in the room with you. To ensure patient privacy, we recommend taking appointments from your home or office with the door closed.
Patients will be able to focus on you better if the environment behind you is a light solid color, clean, simple and not distracting. Position yourself in front of a blank wall instead of a wall full of bookshelves.
